Club
History
The
Show-Me Skiers Ski Club was established in 1983 as the first black ski club in
St. Louis. We organize ski trips to
Midwestern and Western States throughout the ski season.
Our club is an affiliate chapter of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS),
the second largest ski organization in America.
The
goal of the NBS is to promote skiing in the black community. The primary challenge of the organization is to develop
minority youths that will someday qualify for the US Nationals and Winter
Olympic Ski Team. The NBS has
established a youth fund to administer money to youth programs and give
scholarships to youth that demonstrate potential to make the Olympic Ski Team.
The
Show-Me Skiers
has expanded its scope to include warm weather activities such as
swimming, tennis, racquetball, picnics, good health, networking and fun!!!
